We value the content of the products very highly with its few and gentle ingredients. In the same way, we want to put a value on the product packaging and contribute by spreading knowledge on how to best recycle them.

Many empty packaging, including ours, tend to end up in household bins, meaning a definite end to the life cycle of the material. However, many packaging has the potential to be recycled and reused.

Some product packaging consists of different types of materials, so it is important to separate the parts for the best possible recycling potential. Our goal is to reduce the amount of plastic and material used for our packaging, but due to its impermeability, plastic is often the best alternative for product durability. The long-term goal is that all product packaging in IDUN Minerals’ assortment should be recyclable or reusable.

This guide is made for the purpose of helping customers recycle IDUN Minerals’ packaging. The recycling guide will be updated depending on what type of packaging materials that are used.

Step 1
Many of IDUN Minerals products have an outer packaging made of paper to protect the product from damage during transport and to provide necessary information, such as INCI, addresses and translations. The outer packaging should be sorted as paper packaging. The leaflets should be sorted as paper/newspaper.

Step 2
When your IDUN Minerals product is empty, all parts that can be dismantled should be separated and recycled based on the material.

Caps and Lids
All IDUN Minerals caps and lids consist of plastic and should be separated from the base and sorted as plastic packaging. Example products that have caps and lids: Liquid foundation Nordic Veil and Norrsken, Brush Cleanser, 2-in-1 Leave-in Treatment Scalp & Hair, Refreshing Dry Shampoo, Micellar Water, Tinted Day Cream LEN and Face primer IRIS.

Important to note is that in these products there is a small amount of metal in the pumps, however, since the overall material consists of plastic, the pump should be separated from the product container and can be sorted as plastic.

Plastic Packaging
IDUN Minerals product packaging consists mostly of plastic in order to protect the clean and gentle formula. It is therefore important that the empty product packaging is sorted and recycled correctly in order to become a new packaging. Most IDUN Minerals packaging should be sorted as plastic, such as the powder products (Mineral Powder Foundation, 2-in-1 Pressed Powder and Foundation), concealers, mascaras, lip products (excl. Lipstick), eyeliners and Brush Cleaner.

Important to note, Brush Cleaner needs to be completely empty when recycled, otherwise, it should be sorted as hazardous waste.

The hair- and skincare packaging should also be sorted as plastic except for the Refreshing Dry Shampoo.

Glass Packaging
The bottles of the Liquid Foundations, Nail Oil and Oil Serum are made of colourless glass and should be sorted as glass packaging.

Metal Packaging
The Refreshing Dry Shampoo is made of metal and should be emptied before recycling and then sorted as metal packaging.

Combustible
The packaging for Pressed Powder, Duo Concealer, Pressed Blush, Bronzer, Highlighter, Eyeshadow, Lipstick, and Makeup Brushes consist of a combination of materials such as glass, metal, wood and plastic and should hence be sorted as combustible.

Hazardous Waste
Nail Polish and Nail Care should be sorted as hazardous waste. Brush Cleaner and Refreshing Dry Shampoo should be sorted as hazardous waste in case there is product left in the bottle.
